‘Tis the season. So if you’re looking for fun holiday activities to keep your kids and the entire family entertained and in the spirit, check out these places in Uptown for some holiday cheer and goodwill.

Dust off those ice skates and get active at the outdoor ice rink at Holiday on Ice Uptown. The rink is open through January 6, 2019. Admission is $11.00 or $16.00 with skate rental. Located at NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza at 400 East Martin Luther King Blvd. Hours vary.

Can’t get enough of the sleigh bells and snowflakes? See the classic story of Clara and the Nutcracker at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Presented by the Charlotte Ballet and featuring music from the Charlotte Symphony, this is a show you don’t want to miss. Through December 23, experience this traditional story. Ticket pricing starts at $25.

For a jolly laugh, go to the McColl Family Theatre for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical.

This musical comedy is the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte most popular show. Recommended for all ages, it’s the show everyone can enjoy. Prices vary.

Still looking for something to do? Admire the holiday decorations at the McGill Rose Garden. On twelve evenings, Thursdays through Saturdays, from November 29 to December 22, from 5 to 10 p.m., stop by and stroll through the decorated garden. Admission is $3. Hot chocolate and other small items will be available for sale.

Or check out the holiday display at the Ritz-Carlton Each year, the Ritz-Carlton opens their doors to the public for a viewing of their holiday display. More information will be available later in the year so keep an eye on their website here.

Shop, Stroll, Enjoy

Need to do some last-minute gift shopping? Try the Charlotte Christmas Village. Open daily at 11 a.m. from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas Eve, except for Mondays, experience Christkindlmarkt at their new location at the corner of N. Tryon Street and 7th Street. Some days have special activities and crafts planned. Discovery Place Science educators will even be there on December 20 and 21 with free activities for all!

Want to find a quirky Christmas gift? Try the Uptown Flea Market. With over 80 unique vendors, you’re bound to find something in the spirit! Visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy live music, food trucks, and more. Entry fee is $1 for adults and free for children under 10. Last available date this year is December 15.
